Dog Boarding Aurora Colorado

Are you going on vacation or a business trip? Is someone visiting who is allergic to your pet? Are you working extra long hours and your pet needs attention? Then Broadview Kennels is for you. We are a full service dog kenneling facility offering both short and long-term boarding.

Every dog lives in his or her own indoor/outdoor kennel space. Their door is open during the day giving them the freedom to come and go as they please, with full access to both shaded and sunny areas outside.

  • The inside part of all kennels are temperature controlled.
  • All kennels are cleaned and disinfected daily.
  • You can use our high quality kennel food or bring your own.
  • Dogs can be fed 2 to 3 times a day at the owner’s request.
  • Fresh water is supplied 24 hours a day.

Most dogs spend time running up and down their space "visiting" with their neighbors. Some play tug games through the fence with a neighbor dog when one or the other pushes a rubber toy through the fence. For most dogs, this is enough exercise to keep them happy and entertained. We also offer walks for dogs during the cool of the day. Two (2) walks per day are included in the cost of boarding any large breed dog.

Bordetella (Kennel Cough) & Canine Upper Respiratory Virus

The Bordetella vaccine is administered to dogs to prevent what is commonly known as kennel cough. This a common and highly infectious illness. Vaccination is recommended if your dog will be socializing with other dogs.

Bordetella, also known as Kennel Cough, is a highly contagious canine illness caused by the inflammation of the upper respiratory system. Some common causes are canine distemper, canine adenovirus, canine parainfluenza virus, canine respiratory corona virus, or bacterial infections such as Bordetella bronchisepica.

Both viral and bacterial strains of the virus are spread through the air by infected dogs. Since Bordetella is an airborne illness, it can be spread from dog to dog with no direct contact. It is commonly spread by sneezing or coughing but it can also spread through contact with contaminated surfaces such as toys, leashes, counters and bones or direct contact with infected dogs. The illness can remain contagious for days, even weeks after symptoms disappear.

Symptoms can include, but are not limited to, harsh dry hacking cough, a runny nose, sneezing, snorting and vomiting. Symptoms can appear to be worse after exercise, getting excited, or stressed and usually last from 10 to 20 days. If you see any of these symptoms, we recommend that your dog be seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible as this illness can lead to serious complications.

You cannot fully protect your dog from contracting Bordetella, but if your dog is properly vaccinated, it can help with protecting your dog from this virus. Even though the Bordetella vaccine does not block all strains Kennel Cough, it will protect your dog from the most harmful strains.

Places such as dog shows, dog parks, veterinary offices, pet stores, boarding kennels and grooming facilities are common places for your dog to catch Kennel Cough. It is highly recommended, whether you get the Bordetella injected or administered intranasally, that your dog be vaccinated every six months. At our boarding facility, we recommend that every dog have had the Bordetella vaccine given within the past six (6) months prior to coming to visit with us. In addition to the Bordetella vaccine, the DA2PP (Distemper 5 in 1) and Rabies are also required when boarding with us.

Broadview Kennels Training & Grooming is dedicated to maintaining the health and safety of all our guests so all pets must be properly vaccinated before entering our facility. No animal will be admitted without proof of all required vaccines from licensed veterinarian. It is always best to administer the vaccines at least 72 hours prior to boarding to give the vaccine(s) sufficient time to build an immunity in your dog’s system

   PLEASE NOTE:

Broadview Kennels strongly recommends that every dog receive its vaccination at least 72 hours prior to boarding.
